Warlocks can be the most challenging character class from the Players Handbook from a roleplay stand point in a 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons campaign. It creates this super powerful NPC that goes along with the characters back story and source of power. This can add adventure hooks, encounter ideas, story elements for the GM and players. But what if the play doesn't care and just wanted to play a character with the powers and abilities of that character class? Player and Game Master really need to discuss how things work before the game ever starts and make sue they are both on the same page.

Mhurod Khemri here, my Tiefling Warlock (Fiend Pact) is unhappy with being beholden to his patron, Orcus.
One of his character traits is not liking being told what to do, and it mirrors the player exactly.
What should I do? Part of my Campaign involves Orcus using him as a pawn, but he questions and protests it frequentl
