Playthrough, Maybe? (Doom 64: The Absolution - Dark Citadel, "Watch Me Die!" difficulty)
Guess what I just randomly decided to do because I was bored? Record gameplay from a random level of a random game? You betcher ass, I did!
This is more or less a test to see, well, several things, really:
1) How well-received the video itself is
2) The quality of the video (in terms of graphical quality)
3) How in-demand a potential playthrough might be
Yep, I've finally decided to try to do a playthrough of something after who knows how many years of wanting to do it. So, take a watch, and decide if you would like for me to do a full run of this game.
Now, for the question I'm sure everyone might be asking: What game is this?
Answer: Doom 64! Or rather a TC (Total Conversion) that some awesome people decided to make and put on the PC to allow us N64 fans of old to play once again, but on PC! Similar to source ports like ZDoom, EDuke32 (both of which I have and use), this is a program that allows numerous options of various types that were not present in the 1996 console version. Mouselook is one of the biggest differences that I'm sure all Doom fans of yore are probably staring slack-jawed at...which is something that I use, because frankly, I hate getting splashed in the face with my own rockets due to some shit auto-aim priority...so for that reason I don't use Auto-Aim, either.
This is not the EXACT same game though, as you may have guessed, other than the fact that it is on PC, instead of the Nintendo 64. There are some key differences between this game and the original on the N64.
1) This game does a good bit of reordering in terms of which maps come after which, which maps are the Secret Levels, etc. The Demon Keys (the little demon-faced artifact thingy whose icon you can spot in the lower-left of the HUD) are also located in different places (kinda).
2) The people who made this game also introduced "Nightmare" versions of two enemies: The Spectre and the Cacodemon. These guys move faster, deal more damage, and take more of a pounding than their non-Nightmare counterparts, and can REALLY take a chunk out of your health if you don't watch it!
3) The Pistol fires faster...yeah...that's all there. Still sucks as a weapon after you get the Shotgun (which literally happens 10 feet or so from the start of the first Map.
4) Now, the biggie: There are NEW MAPS in this game that were not present in the original, one of which being one of the Secret Levels (causing a previous Secret Level to be demoted to Regular Level, the poor sod).
5) Guess what? There are not only some new maps, but a WHOLE BUNDLE of them as well! That's right, there's a separate file to download which gives you access to 7 new levels, known as The Outcast Levels, which as of me typing this right now, I have not played...but that will change soon!
So, now that that's all out of the way, enjoy my gameplay vidya, and please let me know if this is something you'd like to see or not! I currently do not have any editing software (which I don't really plan on getting, to be quite honest), and I recorded this gameplay with NVIDIA ShadowPlay, a nifty little recording program from within the NVIDIA GeForce Experience application, which you can only get if you use an NVIDIA GPU, like I have (specifically, a GTX 760...yeah, it's an oldie at this point, don't laugh at me).
