Doom 64: Retribution - Outcast Levels - OUT03: Control (Watch Me Die!, 100%)
2Welcome to the first of three newly-completed maps in the Outcast Levels! I'm not sure if these levels are or are not present in other Doom 64 mods out there, but this is the first I've ever seen or heard of them!
Control is a level in which Nevander's creativity really shines through! From the scanner to the puzzle to the very craftily-hidden Plasma Gun secret, this level is a real blast to play through!
Also, bit of a fun fact: This was a re-record...the original run I did had some issue with the mp4 file. Not sure what happened exactly, but I think it had something to do with me trying to play the file before it was finished processing fully, but that's a total guess on my part.
Ah, well! This was a better run anyway!
SECRETS:
Secret #1 -- 0:41
In the room overlooking the pit with four cages around it, simply use the section of wall with the misaligned texture, and get a Backpack as well as some ammo for your trouble!
Secret #2 -- 5:17
In the staircase-laden hallway after the room containing the Yellow Key, look to the right at the panel of wall with the three Health Bonuses in front of it and use it; this will lower a section of wall containing a Supercharge, and two Shotgun Guys who want to spoil your newfound health boost! This secret section also acts as a shortcut for quick access back to the room containing the previous secret, so that's useful!
Secret #3 -- 5:22
After you have grabbed the Yellow Key (which involves solving this switch puzzle), turn all four of the switches back to the "off" position. Thankfully, this does not require any specific order so you may switch them off at whatever order you please, as long as you switch all 4 of them off. Go back to the starting room (using the aforementioned shortcut via Secret #2 if you so desire) where you found the Red Key and you will notice that the previously-inaccessible Plasma Gun is now very much accessible! Be careful though, as 3 Imps will spawn in the center part of the room as soon as the Plasma Gun is in your possession. Perfect opportunity to use your new toy to mow down those shadowy creatures!
