Doom 64: Retribution - Outcast Levels - OUT07: Traps (Watch Me Die!, 100%)
1Hoo, boy! This map is loud and busy from start to finish! Definitely the hardest of the Outcast Levels in my opinion. Got a bit of a "Caged" vibe from The Plutonia Experiment from the main area where all the fun takes place, and some of the design choices in this map are actually quite annoying...namely the platforming part...oy. That's the reason for my manual save here, though thankfully I was somehow able to do it on my first try!
That ending is also unfair. To my knowledge there is no way to dodge all of the fireballs, and attempting to do so will just cause you to get hit by multiple ones instead of one. Guarantee that was put in there to ruin the days of speedrunners!
SECRETS:
Secret #1 -- 5:05
After grabbing the Blue Skull Key and doing away with the gaggle of Nightmare Imps that come in to ruin your day, use the back section of wall in either alcove to lower a platform containing some Health Bonuses and a Plasma Gun!
Secret #2 -- 6:05
Go through the Yellow Door, immediately turn right and lower the section of wall for a bunch of Health Bonuses and a Backpack! I do not believe this bit of wall has a differing texture, so it can be easy to miss! It was for me, anyway!
Secret #3 -- 7:35
In the aforementioned annoying platform part, use the section of wall that is ever so slightly differently-colored to access a Mega Armor and Computer Area Map along with some other goodies. Best to save this until last (if you can help it of course), as there is no Megasphere in this level)
Secret #4 -- 6:20
Hit the switch here to make the switch at 6:42 appear in the wall. Hit that switch and the Demon Artifact you saw tantalizingly moving up and down has now vanished! Head back to the starting room and open the door to the room you spawned inside to find the mischievous little bugger hiding inside! Grabbing it will net you the final secret of the map, as well as giving your Unmaker some more oomph!
