The next iteration of our modded flans mod Minecraft server will take place in the American Civil War. However, instead of the typical scenario where both sides are roughly equal and players are free to choose either side, we will instead force players to participate in a player vs player e-sports tournament on the server to earn the opportunity of joining the Confederacy. Otherwise, most players will be forced to join the Union.

The goal of this weird rule-set is to make the war's in-game balance of power more similar to the historical reality of the war, in which a disproportionally southern pre-war US army gave the Confederacy an early-war advantage until the Union's superior industry and manpower eventually won the day.

If you cannot participate in the tournament in-person but still intend to play the server and join the Confederacy, you can qualify for a small chance by posting your result from this test:

The time of day of the tournament is undecided, but will likely be in an American-centric time zone. When the final time is decided, it will be posted in the Discord and I will probably update this description. Even if the tournament is delayed, June 19th will still be the cutoff date for registering.

Since June 19th has passed, the tournament brackets have been set. The tournament will be held on Sunday the 26th at 5:30 pm pacific standard time
