Today we attempt to follow Tutorial 2 as provided by PMDG with their new DC-6 for MSFS. This is certainly not an exhaustive and authoritative guide on how to follow the tutorial, but I still think it is useful to share the things that went well and we struggled with.

The key takeaways for anyone learning the DC-6:
1) If the autopilot disconnects or doesn't respond to what you want it to do, take a breath, shut everything off, get your plane situated, and then program it back in. It's complicated, but it works.

2) If it doesn't seem right, it probably isn't. When it isn't, try to set yourself up for success, plan so you have more time and space than you think you need

3) You're the pilot, it's important to know which controls the AFE is monitoring when. Know what the levers do and don't be afraid to pull them when you need to.

This is a tough plane, but it's very fun to learn. I really enjoy when these aircraft give a bit of a challenge.

As always, I am not a real world pilot, I am an engineer who enjoys learning and exploring aircraft and how they work. This should not be used for any kind of real-world flight instruction, and virtual instruction really at your own risk.
