I played around with the ROM and found more weird stuff. So I decided to do a series of videos showcasing various glitches. This one deals with the scrapped skateboard and surfing on land.

The skateboard is very buggy. It's not even properly functional here. When you use the skateboard you will rapidly turn up and down or start moving left or right. You don't have any control unless you hold down B. And since B lets you walk through walls in the debug ROM it leads to some very bizarre problems. And most of them end in freezing. When you start moving rapidly in one direction you usually cannot stop. Eventually the game just freezes even if you're n an open space.

If you let the skateboard drift in one direction it will eventually hit an impassable boundary and the game will freeze. Save for one case where I turned invisible and was able to escape (and reappear!). These things happen even if you aren't holding down B, making any semblance of normal movement with the skateboard impossible. It's a very bizarre ride.

I'm not sure if I'd call the stuff I did with surf a glitch glitch on the same level as the skateboard It's just amusing. You cannot use surf on land. But there's a workaround. Just use it in the water then hold down B. You can now move anywhere as Lapras. But you'll turn back to normal if you let go of B then press any direction button.

There are player character sprites in some areas that are used as placeholders. And since the Lapras sprite replaces the PC sprite while surf is being used, those placeholders are also replaced. So depending on where you are there may be a Lapras party in town. ^o^
