In the first five minutes of this video, I capture my next team member, who I spent a long time finding that Pokémon, and because I have been catching some Pokémon, I have got some Pokémon on my team closer to the evolution level so that I can evolve them at once. Then I check out the Fuchsia City Gym, which is led by Koga, a ninja who uses Poison-type Pokémon.

As the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description.

The reason why I went with Scyther for a team member is so I can have a speedy Physical attacker, and Scyther can use U-turn so if I am at a disadvantage, I can use U-turn to switch Scyther into a Pokémon that can take out that opponent. I did chain some Pidgey and Oddish, which is a great way to grind Candy, but I never made it to 30, I was very close with Pidgey, but had it run on me while the chain was at 28, and I was finding Chansey and Tauros often while trying to find Scyther.
Next up is the Fuchsia City Gym, which uses Poison-type Pokémon, and the smoke in the Gym tells where the hidden walls are, and I need to have 50 Pokémon registered in the Pokédex, so this Gym is a speedrunners worse nightmare. Thank God the random trainers in this Gym don't have Hypno or Kadabra like they did in the original games, because this is not a Psychic-type Gym, but Hypno can learn Poison Gas.
The Trainers in this Gym like to use Protect, and most of Koga's Pokémon know Toxic and Protect, so using Dig is useless, unless you are playing co-op mode and your partner has a Pokémon that knows Feint, like Persian or Hitmonlee. Weezing has Explosion, Muk can use Moonblast, Golbat has Fly and Leech Life, which pair well with Toxic, and Venomoth can use Sludge Bomb, Psychic and Bug Buzz. If you have a good Psychic or Ground-type, like Rhydon or Alakazam, you will be set for this Gym, if you have Rock Slide on Rhydon, that will take out Golbat and Venomoth, otherwise Electric-type moves for Golbat and Fire-type moves for Venomoth is another option.
After beating Koga, you will earn the Soul Badge and the TM for Toxic, which for some reason every Pokémon that can learn TMs can learn Toxic. It is more of a move for Competitive Battling, and great to teach to Pokémon that are more defensive, or if you are using a Poison-type on your team, it can even affect opponents that use Dig. I know that Poison-types get perfect accuracy with Toxic starting from Gen 6, but I did not even know about Toxic affecting opponents that have used Dig until recently.
