This part I take on the Rustboro Gym and the trainers there use Rock types, and the Gym Leader Roxanne is very easy. If you started off with Treecko or Mudkip, it's very easy. But if you started off with Torchic, be sure to evolve it into Combusken and have it learn Double Kick, or catch Shroomish or a Lotad if you're playing Sapphire version, or a Seedot on Ruby version to help you out. Watch to see if I can take on Roxanne, I remember she a Geodude and a Nosepass which are quite easy opponents.
