I arrive at Mauville City to find Wally and I think you get to battle him there, his Ralts is a very easy opponent. I find it weird, if Wally's first Pokémon was a Ralts, and it's only move was Growl, then how did Wally train his Ralts up without catching any Pokémon, and why didn't he keep the Zigzagoon he borrowed from Norman (aka, Dad) until Ralts learned Confusion. I won't be battling the Gym in this part, I'll be battling many Trainers on Route 117 to get some Experience for my Electrike and Aron, not Marshtomp as I remember the Gym uses Electric types, and Marshtomp being immune to Electric types, watch to see which Trainers I go against.
