The next Pokémon that I trade through Surprise Trade is Varoom, the first ever Steel/Poison-type Pokémon evolution line. I usually breed for 31 IVs in at least 4 or 5 stats, and some Varoom have the Hidden Ability of Slow Start, I don't get why Slow Start of all Abilities. This was the Ability that crippled Regigigas, a Legendary Pokémon with very high stats, Varoom doesn't even have high stats, but when it evolves into Revavroom, it changes to Filter, which is a much better Ability, but it can work with Overcoat to give it an immunity to weather effects and powder moves, and I went with Adamant for the Nature, as it has Attack for its best stat, and it has decent Speed as well.
For Egg Moves, I went with Toxic, Haze, Parting Shot, and Torment, Varoom does get Self-Destruct, but I didn't go with that. For Pokémon that can learn those moves, both Torment and Parting Shot can be learned by Bombirdier, but for other Pokémon, Parting Shot is an Egg Move for Impidimp, Squawkabilly, and Shroodle, and Torment can be learned by Houndour, Sandile, Zorua, and Pawniard. It can get Toxic from Foongus, Salandit, and Croagunk, Haze from Seviper, Murkrow, and Cryogonal, and Self-Destruct from Voltorb, Pineco, and Drifloon. In Varoom's Egg Group, the Glimmet line learn Self-Destruct and Toxic.
Varoom is a Pokémon that takes a while to get going, it evolves at Level 40, and it has really weak starting moves, Lick and Poison Gas, and for level up, it learns Smog, Taunt, Assurance, Sludge, Gyro Ball, Headbutt, Screech, Iron Head, Swagger, Poison Jab, Uproar, Spin Out, and Gunk Shot. Varoom learns Gyro Ball at Level 17, Iron Head at Level 28, and Poison Jab at Level 36, it does get a rough start, but once it gets its good moves, that's when it starts to hold its own, and it doesn't even help that it gets Slow Start for its Hidden Ability, but it does change to Filter when it evolves into Revavroom. It learns Shift Gear upon evolution and it can relearn Magnet Rise, Spin Out is the Varoom line's signature move, it is a 100 power Physical Steel-type move that lowers its Speed by two stages.
Next are TMs, and I will go over what Revavroom can learn, it can get Scary Face, Acid Spray, Thief, Bulldoze, Venoshock, Zen Headbutt, Body Slam, Taunt, Toxic Spikes, Iron Defense, Heavy Slam, Overheat, Giga Impact, Hyper Beam, Steel Beam, and Tera Blast.
As with online battles, Revavroom is ranked 112th in the current format, that is going by at the time of this video going up, because it might change in the next few formats, and it is ranked 144th in Double Battles. Revavroom does get access to Shift Gear to boost its Speed and Attack, and it has access to Iron Head and Gunk Shot for its main moves, Poison Jab is an alternate for accuracy, it can use Parting Shot to switch out while lowering the opponent's Attack and Special Attack, and while Spin Out does have good power, the downside is that move cuts Revavroom's Speed by two stages, for a Pokémon with base 90 Speed, this is kind of a drawback. Revavroom's most popular Tera Types is Water, Fire, and Flying when going by the list of Tera Types. Fire does provide it with a way to take on Steel-type Pokémon with its Tera Blast, because Revavroom has to pick between Bulldoze or Zen Headbutt for a coverage option, Flying is a defensive option, as that does turn its huge Ground weakness into an immunity. While Revavroom is a solid Pokémon, it isn't the best when it comes to its two types, it is outclassed by Glimmora, Clodsire, and Toxapex as a Poison-type, and it sees more use than Grafaiai, Muk, and Salazzle, and as a Steel-type, it has to compete with Gholdengo, Corviknight, Scizor, Kingambit, Tinkaton, Orthworm, and many others.
In Double Battles, there isn't any notable sets, on the list of moves, Spin Out seems to be the most popular move on Revavroom, Haze to reset stat modifications, and Poison Gas to inflict poison on both opponents, and Grass is the most popular Tera Type to protect it from moves like Rage Powder and Spore. While all of the Steel-types I have listed see more use than Revavroom in Double Battles, that is if you count Bronzong, Klefki, and Iron Treads as well, and for Poison-type Pokémon, Amoonguss is in the top 10 in most used Pokémon in Double Battles, along with a few others like Iron Moth, Grafaiai, Gengar, Toxicroak, and many others, and even both Toxapex and Clodsire, which are Pokémon that are rarely ever used in Double Battles, see more use than Revavroom.
For Tera Raid counters, on the Tera Raid Counter spreadsheet that I found, Revavroom is listed as a good counter against Goodra and Mimikyu, for Goodra, it resists most of its moves, that is if it has a Fairy Tera Type, then Revavroom can be put to use, but other Pokémon like Kingambit tend to be better at taking on those Pokémon, that is based on the Tera Type of the Tera Raid Pokémon.
