For types, the CPU got four Water-type Pokémon, while the team I got has many different types, two of them are Psychic-type Pokémon. With the Pokémon that I got, Nidoran♀ has Thunderbolt as a way to take on the Water-type Pokémon, but I will need some kind of strategy, and this is where moves like Toxic and Body Slam come in, and Nidoran♀ doesn't have the best stats to last that long in battle. Arbok has that Glare and Wrap combo, Glare to paralysis the opponent, and Wrap to prevent them from attacking for 2 to 5 turns, and when the opponent's HP is low enough, Arbok can finish them off with Strength or Dig. While I did get a Grass-type, Exeggcute does not have Mega Drain or SolarBeam, and I do have to watch out for Psyduck and Krabby, which both know an Ice-type move.
One Rental Pokémon that I got for this one is Jynx, and this is one of the best Rental Pokémon out of the ones selected for Free Battle, this is because Ice/Psychic is a very powerful type combo, Psychic is just a powerful attacking type, and Ice because when a Pokémon is frozen, they cannot defrost unless you use a Fire-type attack on them. Jynx is the only Pokémon to learn Lovely Kiss, which puts the target to sleep, and it has a respectable Speed stat, making it an offensive powerhouse. Jynx does have to watch out for faster Pokémon, an example being Aerodactyl on the CPU side, Jynx has very low Defense, and if Aerodactyl does get in a critical hit Hyper Beam, that can take down Jynx in one attack, and Aerodactyl is one of the faster Pokémon in the game, and faster Pokémon have a higher chance of getting critical hits.
Blastoise has Skull Bash, back then, it did not boost the Defense stat on the charging turn, and it is a very defensive Pokémon, and if it sets up Withdraw, it can be tough to take down, making Special Attacks more preferred against it, and there is Wigglytuff with its recoil attacks to use that high HP stat, and while the HP stat is high, Wigglytuff's stats are kind of average, but there is Sing to watch out for, even though the move does not have the best accuracy.
