This was a battle where I had to restart on, because what happened was that in an earlier attempt, I switched in Rhyhorn, only for Electabuzz to use Psychic and it took down Rhyhorn in two hits, and I had nothing else that can reliably take on Electabuzz, I had Wartortle on the field when I switched out, and I don't know why Electabuzz would go with Psychic and not ThunderPunch, which would have done more damage to Wartortle. I even had times where Lapras would use SolarBeam while I have Venusaur out, when Lapras has the super effective Ice Beam, and not only that, SolarBeam would require a turn to charge, and against Venusaur who 4x resists Grass, that is not what you want to do.
With the Pokémon that I got, two of them are Water-type Pokémon, while the CPU got three, and another Pokémon the CPU has is Ditto, not one of the best Pokémon due to its below average stats, but with Transform, it can copy the opposing Pokémon, and Transform does copy the Pokémon's stats except for HP, their stat boosts, and types, and if the transformed Pokémon deals a critical hit, it uses the original Pokémon's stats, in this case, it will use Ditto's stats instead of the Pokémon it is transformed into, and in this game, Transform will fail if the opposing Pokémon is a Ditto, and in earlier Japanese versions, Transform works against Ditto.
From looking at the moves, Dugtrio is one Pokémon that can be predictable, its only two moves are those that require two turns, for Dig, you can switch in a Flying-type to avoid the attack, and a Rock-type can switch in to a Hyper Beam, which in the following turn, Dugtrio cannot attack. As four of the CPU Pokémon are weak to Grass, the downside to Venusaur is that SolarBeam requires a turn to charge, and then attack on the next turn, and both Poliwag and Lapras know Ice-type moves, and Dugtrio can use Dig to avoid the attack.
