This is the last Johto Gym that I take on in the Gym Leader Castle. This is Blackthorn Gym, the Gym Leader is Clair, and she is a Dragon-type specialist. The Trainers use Pokémon of many different types, the first few use types like Grass, Normal, Water, Fire, and many others, and the Gym Leader has Pokémon of different types as there weren't many Dragon-type Pokémon back in the day. The team I went with is Ninetales, Golduck, Primeape, Dugtrio, Wobbuffet, and Electabuzz, the six is listed to be anything, as this was suggested by the Rental guide on GameFAQs.
I will list each Trainers, and the nicknames of the Pokémon, with the species name of the Pokémon in brackets, as well as their held item.
Battle 1: Cooltrainer♀ Gloria

For being the last Gym in Johto, the first two Trainers aren't really that tough, the first opponent makes use of moves that put Pokémon to sleep, like Sing and Sleep Powder. I don't know if I went over the Berry Juice item, it restores 20 HP when the Pokémon's HP is below half, this item is on Oddish in the first battle, and Cyndaquil in the second battle. The second opponent uses all of the Starter Pokémon, this one was quite tricky as I found myself having to rely on Wobbuffet to send back damage, which made it hard to predict what they would do, and this was even notable in the battle against Clair, where I would use Mirror Coat to try and take out Kingdra, only for it to use Headbutt instead of Hydro Pump.
Clair's team has Pokémon of different types, Kingdra has a Scope Lens to increase its critical hit chance, and Dragonair's Outrage can deal a lot of damage as it is holding a Dragon Fang to boost the power of its Dragon-type moves by 10%. Kingdra is a difficult Pokémon take on as its only weakness is to Dragon-type moves, and that is where Wobbuffet comes in, Corsola is an alternative as it has Mirror Coat, and Kingdra will very likely use Hydro Pump against it. As with the rest of her Pokémon, Rhydon, Arcanine, and Lapras have some powerful attacks, while Ampharos can be easy to take on with a Ground-type, but the AI does like to switch out when at a disadvantage, making type advantages less effective.
With the Gym Leaders done, the Elite Four come next, and I do like the Ice Path remix that plays, and this is the only time that song ever plays, and you are likely to only hear about 5 seconds of the song, if you want to listen to it in full, I would recommend searching YouTube videos to find it.
