Next up is the Vermilion Gym Tower, and this one is much harder than the previous two, while most of the Trainers use Electric-type Pokémon, some of them use other types of Pokémon. Lt. Surge, the Gym Leader of Vermilion Gym, uses only Electric-type Pokémon, but two of his Pokémon do have a move that can come out as unexpected to those that only enter with Ground-type Pokémon.
With the team selected, the only Ground-type Pokémon that can withstand the unexpected move Surge has is Nidoking, all other Ground-type Pokémon, including those that are part Rock-type, will not stand a chance, and Dugtrio does outspeed the Pokémon that have the unexpected move, but it cannot take a hit. I do pick other Pokémon, like Abra to take on the Poison-types in the third battle, Tauros as an alternative option to take on some opponents, and I don't know why I picked Hitmonlee instead of a Grass-type like Ivysaur or Weepinbell.
I will list each Trainers, and the nicknames of the Pokémon, with the species name of the Pokémon in brackets.
Battle 1: Sailor
Choplor (Machop): Karate Chop, Strength, Submission, Seismic Toss
Spearlor (Spearow): Fury Attack, Fly, Mirror Move, Drill Peck
Krablor (Krabby): Stomp, Cut, Crabhammer, Toxic
Pokelor (Slowpoke): Amnesia, Surf, Psychic, Pay Day
Shellor (Shellder): Explosion, BubbleBeam, Ice Beam, Clamp
Ducklor (Golduck): Confusion, Dig, Take Down, BubbleBeam

Battle 2: Rocker
Poryace (Porygon): Psybeam, Tri Attack, Recover, Conversion
Voltace (Voltorb): Screech, Thunderbolt, SonicBoom, Swift
Electrace (Electrode): Light Screen, Flash, Take Down, Thunder
Pikace (Pikachu): Thunder Wave, Body Slam, Quick Attack, Seismic Toss
Buzzace (Electabuzz): Leer, Psywave, ThunderPunch, Mega Punch
Magnemace (Magnemite): Supersonic, Thunder, Double-Edge, Toxic

Battle 3: Old Man
Grothe (Growlithe): Take Down, Dig, Flamethrower, Dragon Rage
Niran♂ (Nidoran♂): Double Kick, Double Team, Fury Attack, Horn Drill
Nidon♀ (Nidoran♀): Poison Sting, Thunder, Tail Whip, Bite
Pota (Ponyta): Stomp, Double-Edge, Fire Spin, Toxic
Charleon (Charmeleon): Body Slam, Counter, Fire Blast, Submission
Charder (Charmander): Slash, Swift, Mega Kick, Seismic Toss

Battle 4: Surge
Raichu: Thunder, Submission, Surf, Body Slam
Voltorb: Thunder, Thunder Wave, Explosion, SonicBoom
Electrode: SonicBoom, Thunder, Selfdestruct, Swift
Pikachu: Seismic Toss, Surf, Agility, Double Team
Magnemite: Supersonic, Double-Edge, Bide, Thunderbolt
Magneton: Thunderbolt, Hyper Beam, Take Down, Reflect

The first three opponents don't have a set strategy, if you did bring an Electric-type, Sailor's Pokémon, with the exception of Machop, are weak to Electric-type moves, but watch out for Golduck's Dig. Rocker only has Electric-type Pokémon, the only exception being Porygon, and all of Old Man's Pokémon are weak to Ground, as they are all Poison and Fire-type Pokémon.
Surge is not to be underestimated, his Raichu and Pikachu both know Surf, no Ground-type Pokémon is safe from them, while Nidoking can withstand a Surf from Raichu, it's best to have some backup Pokémon for them, Dugtrio does outspeed Raichu, but it does get taken out with one Surf from Raichu. A Ground-type like Graveler or Sandslash can be good choices for any Electric-type that are not Pikachu or Raichu, as they only have Electric and Normal-type moves, Voltorb and Electrode can use Explosion or Selfdestruct, watch out for them.
