Before we begin the Restricted Sparring, I show that on August 9th, there was a special Mystery Gift event that happened, it was only live for one day, but through a code, you were able to get a Shiny Amoonguss that was used by Baik Jongyoon in the Trainer's Cup steam on Pokémon Korea, it had 31 IVs in all stats except for Attack and Speed, which had 0 IVs, and it was EV Trained in HP, Defense, and Special Defense, and it has the moves Clear Smog, Spore, Protect, and Rage Powder, so that Amoonguss has some moves that are best suited in Double Battles, and it has its Hidden Ability of Regenerator, and the Amoonguss is Korean, so if you are one of these players that likes to fill in their foreign Pokédex on Pokémon HOME, as well as the Shiny Pokédex, there it is.
Then to go over my Ice-type team that I used to freeze the competition, my lead is an Alolan Ninetales with Snow Warning, and he has Aurora Veil and is equipped with a Light Clay, which will extend the duration of Aurora Veil to 8 turns. Blizzard and Moonblast are his main attacking moves, and Freeze-Dry is there to deal with Water-type Pokémon.
Next is Alolan Sandslash, and he has Slush Rush, which doubles his Speed in a hailstorm, and for his moves, he has Swords Dance to boost his Attack, while Iron Head, Icicle Spear, and Earthquake are there to get in some huge damage, I considered teaching him Triple Axel, but ended up keeping Icicle Spear.
Lapras is capable of Gigantamax, she can use G-Max Resonance, and can summon rain with Max Geyser, and I gave her a Leftovers, as I felt it would go well with Lapras's high HP stat, she is very solid in battle, and her Thunder move is there for Max Lightning against any Water-type opponent while Gigantamaxed.
While this is the team I went with, both Ninetales and Sandslash make a good team, as Ninetales has Snow Warning, and Sandslash has Slush Rush. As far as alternatives go, Abomasnow and Vanilluxe get Snow Warning as well, but Alolan Ninetales is the fastest Snow Warning user out of the ones we have. Alolan Sandslash is the best Slush Rush Pokémon we have so far, because the only Pokémon that gets that Ability is Beartic, and while Beartic has higher Attack, it doesn't have as much Speed as Sandslash does, and while Arctozolt and Arctovish can get it for their Hidden Ability, it is not yet available to them yet.
While Hail is a good weather condition for an Ice-type team, even if Ice is not the best type defensively, there are some other options for what Ability you want, there is Ice Body for healing, Glaceon, Avalugg, and Mr. Rime get that Ability, and there is Snow Cloak, which Froslass and Mamoswine can use to great effect, although I find that Mamoswine is better off with Thick Fat for the Ability, and there is Eiscue with its Ice Face gimmick that makes it a good choice on a Hail team.
For other possible options, for some powerful Physical attackers, Galarian Darmanitan, Weavile, and Mamoswine are some of the best in terms of Physical Ice-types, and on the Special side, Glaceon and Frosmoth are some noteworthy choices, while Cloyster and its Shell Smash can make a great Pokémon to add to your Ice-type team. Frost Rotom is another good option, while it's not the most popular form of Rotom, its Blizzard will be good in a Hail team.
