For this week, I made a list of a few Pokémon to do for Surprise Trade, around 15 of them, and the Pokémon that I am trading for this week is Applin. I breed for 31 IVs in at least 4 or 5 stats, and I went with Modest for the Nature, Applin has two different evolved forms, Modest works better for Appletun, but it can work with Bold or Calm, while Flapple prefers Adamant or Jolly. I did for the Hidden Ability of Bulletproof on Applin, this becomes Hustle when it evolves into Flapple, or Thick Fat when it evolves into Appletun, while Ripen is not that bad of an Ability, as it doubles the effects of Berries in battle, I prefer the Hidden Ability on the Applin line.
Applin learns four Egg Moves, those being Defense Curl, Rollout, Sucker Punch, and Recycle, I will list which parents in the Grass and Dragon Egg Groups that can learn those moves.
Defense Curl: Bagon, Shelgon, Salamence, Cherubi, Cherrim, Foongus, Amoonguss (Requires Chain Breeding)
Recycle: Flapple, Appletun
Rollout: Seedot, Nuzleaf, Shiftry
Sucker Punch: Seedot, Nuzleaf, Shiftry, Maractus, Dragapult

To get Defense Curl, the Cherubi line learn it from Clefairy, Jigglypuff, and Marill, while the Foongus line get it through Chain Breeding with Cherubi, and when bred onto Applin, it can pass Defense Curl onto Bagon.
Applin's moves are very limited, its starting moves are Astonish and Withdraw, the only TM move it learns is Attract, and for Tutor moves, it learns Grassy Glide and Draco Meteor. When going over its evolved forms, it evolves into Flapple when you use a Tart Apple on it, Flapple learns Wing Attack upon evolution, and it can relearn Recycle, Growth, and Twister, and for level up moves, it learns Acid Spray, Acrobatics, Leech Seed, Protect, Dragon Breath, Dragon Dance, Dragon Pulse, Grav Apple, Iron Defense, Fly, and Dragon Rush. When you use a Sweet Apple, Applin will evolve into Appletun, which learns Headbutt upon evolution, and can relearn Recycle, Growth, and Sweet Scent, and for level up moves, it can learn Curse, Stomp, Leech Seed, Protect, Bullet Seed, Recover, Apple Acid, Body Slam, Iron Defense, Dragon Pulse, and Energy Ball.
Next are TMs and TRs, I will go over what both evolved forms learn, starting with TMs, they can learn Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, Solar Beam, Giga Drain, Sunny Day, Bullet Seed, and Round, and for TRs, they can learn Outrage, Iron Defense, Seed Bomb, Dragon Pulse, Energy Ball, Grass Knot, and Heavy Slam. Going over what Flapple can learn, it can get Scary Face, U-turn, and Air Slash, and for TR moves, it can learn Focus Energy and Dragon Dance. Then going over Appletun's moves, for TMs, it can learn Light Screen, Reflect, Safeguard, Payback, and Bulldoze, and for TRs, it can learn Earthquake, Superpower, Gyro Ball, High Horsepower, and Body Press, and for Tutor moves, Flapple learns Dual Wingbeat.
Both forms can Gigantamax, Flapple can use G-Max Tartness, which its Grass-type moves become, and it reduces the evasiveness of its opponents, while Appletun can use G-Max Sweetness, which heals the status condition of its allies.
For competitive viability, neither of them are that great, so they belong in the lower tiers, both of them are 4x weak to Ice, and Flapple isn't really that fast to begin with, base 70 is kind of average, so it requires a boost in Dragon Dance to outspeed many things, although it does have a good Attack stat and Hustle to make use of Grav Apple and Outrage, and it can make a good Dynamax user with Max Airstream from Fly or Dual Wingbeat, but that's about it.
Appletun is the more defensive out of the two, most sets use Leech Seed and Protect to stall out the opponent, and usually Apple Acid and Dragon Pulse are there for attacking moves, it can use Recover to heal off the damage, and there's not much else to go over with it, it could make use of Iron Defense and Body Press, not much else it can do.
Out of Applin's evolved forms, I prefer Flapple out of the two, it does have a cool design, and Grass/Dragon is a really interesting type combination, it's good that we get a Pokémon that has those two types that is not a different form of an existing Pokémon, we did have Mega Sceptile and Alolan Exeggutor, but that was a Mega Evolution and a Regional Form, so I count the Applin line as the first actual Grass/Dragon-type Pokémon, because I prefer not to count alternate forms when going over exclusive types, and it's good we got a Grass/Dragon-type that is not an alternate form, even if that huge weakness to Ice is a massive downside to that type combo.
