The moment you leave Max Lair after talking to Peony, you get a call from Leon, and he tells you to go to Wyndon Stadium.
Once you arrive, you meet up with Hop and all the Gym Leaders of Galar, even Opal, despite her retiring as a Gym Leader, and I believe you have to complete both Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra to unlock Galarian Star Tournament, because Klara or Avery show up and tell you they have become a new Gym Leader, and Hop does appear during the Isle of Armor storyline, which does mean you have to complete Isle of Armor as well.
Galarian Star Tournament is a Multi Battle Tournament, and you have to choose your teammate, right now you can pick either Hop or Marnie as your teammate. I will go over their teams, starting with Hop, and he can now Gigantamax his starter.
Dubwool: Cotton Guard, Double Kick, Double-Edge, Headbutt
Zamazenta: Crunch, Behemoth Bash, Iron Defense, Play Rough (Sword Only)

For their team, starting with the Sword exclusive team, Bea has Hawlucha, Falinks, and Machamp, and Gordie has Shuckle, Tyranitar, and Coalossal. Bea will Gigantamax her Machamp, and Gordie will Gigantamax his Coalossal, they can be tough opponents.
Next is the Shield exclusive team, Allister has Dusknoir, Cursola, and Gengar, and Melony has Mr. Rime, Galarian Darmanitan, and Lapras. For their teams, and you will fight Raihan no matter who your teammate is, so it is best to go over his team first, he has Flygon, Goodra, and Duraludon, and Raihan will Gigantamax his Duraludon if it comes to him. When you fight both Raihan and Leon, they can be tough opponents, as Leon was Champion, and Raihan is his rival. If you picked Marnie as your teammate, you will fight Piers alongside Raihan, Piers has Skuntank, Toxtricity, and Obstagoon, and Piers will never Dynamax any of his Pokémon.
When you have defeated Leon and Raihan, or Piers and Raihan depending on your teammate, the credits will roll, and you earn a lot of money for participating, and Ball Guy gives you a reward. You can take part in the Galarian Star Tournament many times as you want, and you can pick different teammates, and it is a good way to grind money and experience.
