It is back to Online Battles after the release of the Crown Tundra after almost a month since, and Pokémon Sword & Shield has been out for a year. Last week, there was an online competition called Tundra Tourney, which only allowed Pokémon in the Crown Tundra Dex, and this was the team I used in that competition, and there were a lot of really powerful Pokémon that were included in the Crown Tundra Dex, Garchomp and Metagross were from the returning Pokémon, and I did see some players using them.
Another bit of news unrelated to the video and it is related to competitive battling, Dynamax is banned in the Uber tier, and I have seen people talking on message boards about how Gigantamax Meowth is in the same tier as Mega Rayquaza, because who in their mind would bring a Meowth into an Uber battle?
Back to something that is relevant to the video, and even though my team does have some overused Pokémon, I do have some underused Pokémon as well. While Clefable has seen competitive use before the Crown Tundra DLC, even placing high in the competitive ratings. My Clefable has Unaware, so she can ignore stat boosts, so any Dragonite that try to set up Dragon Dance, those boosts will mean nothing to Clefable, and she does have a Kee Berry, so she can take even a Max Airstream from a Dynamaxed Dragonite. My opponent did not use a Dragonite, but she did have a Salamence instead, and that thing wasn't used in this battle, and with Urshifu and Aegislash, those can be tough opponents. The reason why Moonlight on Clefable is because this is the only reliable healing move it can get, and I am aware that Clefable can learn Soft-Boiled, but it can't learn that move in this game. Clefable learns Soft-Boiled in FireRed & LeafGreen, and you have to transfer it all the way over to this game, it would have been nice to have Soft-Boiled be a breeding move for Clefable, but that wouldn't be possible, because the Chansey line are the only Pokémon to learn that move, and the Chansey line are female-only species, so it cannot be passed down to Clefable.
While I do have a history of using Metagross back in the Pokémon Battle Revolution days, I did consider my usual set of Meteor Mash, Zen Headbutt, Earthquake, and Bullet Punch, but I went with Thunder Punch so that Metagross has some type coverage. There are many different ways to use Metagross, I have seen some that use Agility and Ice Punch to take on Dragon-types, and some Metagross sets don't have Zen Headbutt, because then again after Max Mindstorm, it would prevent use of Bullet Punch in Psychic Terrain.
I decided to test out Cryogonal in this battle, and while it is an unusual Pokémon as it doesn't see much usage, as it is meant to be a Special wall, but with a bad defensive typing and it cannot take a Physical hit. With this Cryogonal, it has Recover as a good way for healing off damage against Special Attackers, and Freeze-Dry is an option against Water-type Pokémon, while Ice Beam and Flash Cannon are its main moves. While Sheer Cold is a possibility, I don't like using OHKO moves, or 1-Hit KO Moves, because these moves have low Accuracy, and it is based on luck to get an attack off, but I did read that starting from Gen 7, Sheer Cold has a higher chance of hitting if used by a Ice-type Pokémon, and I believe Ice-type Pokémon are immune to Sheer Cold. Another reason why I don't like 1-Hit KO Moves is those will not work on a Dynamax Pokémon.
