It is time for the adventure to begin, and unfortunately I have to cross the grass on Route 1 because some Wooloo decide to block the path, so it is time to see which Pokémon can be encountered on Route 1 before arriving to Wedgehurst and obtaining the Pokédex.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

Before starting this video, I show off Mystery Gift and you can get a Meowth that is capable of Gigantamax, it comes with Slash, a strong move for this early in the game, and its Gigantamax move is G-Max Gold Rush, which all its Normal-type moves become and it not only confuses targets, but you earn some extra money, so this is a handy early game Pokémon. This Meowth cannot evolve into Persian, so it does start to fall behind later on in the game.
Starting the adventure on Route 1, it is time to catch some more Pokémon partners so then my Sobble will have some temmates along the way, and I will go over the encounters. I am not going to spoil the evolutions of new Pokémon unless they were revealed pre-release.
First up is Skwovet, this cute little squirrel is a Normal-type Pokémon that comes with Cheek Pouch for its Ability, so if it eats a Berry, it restores 25% of its health. Skwovet will have HP as its best stat, as well as good Attack and Defense, so it is fairly good for being the Rattata of this game, it will have Tackle and Bite as early moves.
Next is Rookidee, which is a Flying-type, not Normal/Flying, so it is the first pure Flying-type since Tornadus in Gen 5. Rookidee will have Power Trip when caught, and it gets Hone Claws at Level 8, and this will make Power Trip more powerful the more it uses Hone Claws, so Rookidee can sweep teams with that. Its best stats are Attack and Speed, and it becomes more defensive when evolved, and I'm assuming that Corviknight is the final evolution of Rookidee, I won't spoil if it has a middle form.
Next up is Wooloo, which was revealed pre-release and was super popular then, but anyway, I recommend getting a Wooloo with Fluffy, as that makes it an excellent Physical tank, and it has good Defense as well. It has Tackle for most of the game until it learns Headbutt, if you are looking for a good early game Normal-type, Wooloo is not a bad option to consider, it depends if you prefer Wooloo or Skwovet, I think Wooloo is better out of the two.
Then we have Nickit, which is kind of like the Purrloin of this game, where it starts with really weak moves and doesn't get any good moves until later on, it is a Dark-type and comes with Beat Up, which is good early game when you have a full team. Nickit's best stats are Speed and Special Attack, and it gets Snarl at Level 12, but I wouldn't say it is that good, but it can be a decent temporary team member.
While you can see Pokémon in the overworld, there are some hiding in the tall grass, and the first of few is Blipbug, this is the early Bug-type of this game, and its only move is Struggle Bug, Blipbug does evolve fairly early, and when it evolves, it becomes a defensive Pokémon, so it can be good once you get it evolved, as it is weak as a Blipbug.
Then we have the old classics, Caterpie starts off really weak, but it evolves into Metapod at Level 7, and eventually into Butterfree at Level 10, but if you can hold off Caterpie's evolution until Level 9, it can learn Bug Bite. Butterfree learns the powder moves, combined with Compound Eyes, which make it a great early-game Pokémon, it does start to fall behind later on, so Butterfree is best as a temporary Pokémon.
Next is Grubbin, and unlike Caterpie, Grubbin is really good, it can learn Bug Bite and Spark, which sets it apart from Caterpie. When Grubbin evolves into Charjabug, it becomes part Electric type, and from what I heard, I think you need a Thunder Stone to evolve Charjabug into Vikavolt. Vikavolt will learn Thunderbolt upon evolution, making it an amazing Pokémon, as it has very high Special Attack, but low Speed, if you can get a Grubbin, I highly recommend it.
The last encounter is Hoothoot, and it isn't too great, because it doesn't get Hypnosis until later, and its evolved form Noctowl is outclassed by better Pokémon, while it is a bulky Normal/Flying-type, it is not much of a damage dealer.
Then we arrive at Wedgehurst, where we meet up with Leon, and he introduces us to the professor's assistance and grandaughter Sonia, a friend of Leon's, and we get a Pokédex added to the Rotom Phone, so Rotom is back as an electronic device, and this time it isn't talkative.
I show off the Pokémon Center, and I don't even know what that Pokémon is beside the left guy, it looks like an Audino for some reason, you can relearn moves with that guy, so if your Pokémon evolved, you can check what moves it would learn at Level 1, you can also buy Berries and visit Boutiques around Galar.
