The next Pokémon added is another Defender, and this one has a unique playstyle, Lapras is now in Pokémon UNITE. It is confirmed that Chandelure will be the next Pokémon, but for some reason they don't seem to announce the Pokémon that was leaked shortly after Comfey was added, along with like five or six other Pokémon, and so far we have Zacian, Goodra, and Lapras, I only knew about Zacian and Lapras before they were announced, but not Goodra.
Lapras is a Defender, and it has Shell Armor for the Ability, if it takes damage from an attack that exceeds a set percentage of its maximum HP, the damage will be reduced. Its basic attack becomes a boosted attack every three attacks, and the blast of water deals damage and restores Lapras's HP.
Lapras's starting moves are Whirlpool and Ice Shard, Whirlpool deals damage over time around Lapras, and any opposing Pokémon will take damage when in the area of effect from the whirlpool centered around Lapras. Ice Shard is a ranged attack that leaves the target frozen for a short time, and if it hits a frozen Pokémon, it deals damage and shoves them.
At Level 5, Lapras will learn Water Pulse or Perish Song, they replace Whirlpool. Perish Song deals damage to opposing Pokémon, and Lapras can use the move up to three times consecutively, and any opposing Pokémon hit three times take additional damage, and they will be instantly knocked out if their HP is below a set percentage. Water Pulse is like Whirlpool, but it decreases the movement speed of opposing Pokémon, and an additional pulse can be released the next time the move is used, up to 2 in total, and when the second pulse hits an opposing Pokémon, Lapras's next basic attack becomes a boosted attack.
At Level 7, Lapras learns Bubble Beam or Ice Beam, when using Bubble Beam, Lapras gains a shield after shooting bubbles in a designated direction, and the bubbles fly in a set distance, and any opposing Pokémon that make contact will be left unable to act for a short time. Ice Beam is a ranged attack that deals damage to opposing Pokémon and freezes the ground, and opposing Pokémon on the frozen ground have their movement speed reduced, and they become frozen if on there for longer, and when Lapras moves on the frozen ground, its movement speed is increased.
Its Unite Move is Lapras Express, which it learns at Level 9, when moving, Lapras's movement speed will be increased, but it loses speed when it hits an obstacle, and the move stops when it hits an oppoisng Pokémon. While using the Unite move, ally Pokémon can ride Lapras, and if the Unite Move is used again, Lapras creates a wave that deals damage to opposing Pokémon and throwing them.
At Level 11, Water Pulse or Perish Song are upgraded, with Water Pulse, a total of three pulses can be released, and the next basic attack Lapras uses after using Perish Song becomes a boosted attack. At Level 13, Bubble Beam or Ice Beam are upgraded, when using Bubble Beam, the shield created is strengthened, and Ice Beam increases the length of time the ground is frozen.
As a Defender, Lapras can make use of items like Focus Band and Assault Vest, and as it is a Special Attacker, it can use the Slick Spoon to get in some good damage on its opponents. It's even a solid user of Sp. Atk. Specs and Score Shield if you are going with a score set on it. Perish Song with either Ice Beam or Bubble Beam work well with Lapras, because with Perish Song, it can get in some good damage on its foes, and Water Pulse pairs well with Bubble Beam, and its Unite Move does provide it with some extra mobility, which Lapras does not normally have the best in, and its Perish Song has a chance of instantly defeating foes, which for a Defender can work very well.
As for the next Pokémon, Chandelure will very likely be an Attacker, because in the main series games, it has a massive Special Attack stat, being one of the highest for something that isn't even a Legendary Pokémon, and the Attacker role is all about ranged attacks.
