With just two weeks until the first part of the DLC drops, they've released the hardest 7* raid yet: Mewtwo! With an instant-shield plus Calm Mind spam, and an insanely rude one-time Rest that actually fully heals Mewtwo (who has an abnormal x50 HP multiplier) with an insta-wakeup due to its chesto berry, you're bound to struggle.

Thankfully, any Mew brought into the raid gets a free x1.5 HP and x1.2 to other stats! And there's currently a Mystery Gift for a free Mew, so there's no excusing not owning one. As for raising it, for a while now they've rerun the Blissey tera shard event, as well as new events giving away vitamins and experience candy and relevant TMs and so on, so that's quick too.

To go into more detail... Mewtwo's moveset is Psystrike (a special move that uses defense in damage calculations), Aura Sphere, Ice Beam, and cheeky Calm Mind. Mewtwo immediately uses Calm Mind, and then puts up its shield (which covers 50% of its health gauge). At 75% HP and 35% HP, Mewtwo resets your buffs; at 55% HP and after 225 seconds, Mewtwo resets its own debuffs, and at 48% Mewtwo uses Rest.

After some theorycrafting, pokegoons came up with this strategy:
- to negate Calm Mind spam, have Armarouge spam Clear Smog;
- to use Calm Mind spam against it, have Opportunist Espathra use Skill Swap on your main attacker (and also Pluck its chesto berry!);
- have one Mew play support, maintaining Light Screen to halve all damage and then keep up team HP with Life Dew;
- have one Mew play main attacker, simply spamming Dark Pulse with a Metronome and terastallizing as soon as possible.

It works well, and it's finally a chance for Espathra to shine! Huzzah.

Other strategies include physical attacker Mew sets (with Swords Dance and then Leech Life on the attackers) supported by support Mew (Light Screen, Life Dew, and also Struggle Bug to lower SpA and Misty Terrain to block sleep altogether), which I might try myself once I grab another Mew...

Anyways, if you want a more detailed write-up that I made, then here:
