Police Stories gameplay looks familiar if you've played Hotline Miami, but instead of woozy, high-paced murdering, Police Stories forces you to play by the rules of being a cop.
You and a buddy are given missions to infiltrate a lair full of criminals and civilians, breaking down doors and searching for evidence. The buildings contain several people and you'll need to kill the criminals and handcuff the civilians, but you can only kill in self-defence once you've seen the criminals are armed.
If you don't play by the rules and shoot indiscriminately, you're charged with using unauthorised force (or killing civilians) and get a huge score penalty for the level, and even if you then complete the level you may not score enough to unlock the next mission.
Police Stories gameplay is tough, you die in only a couple of shots and you'll need to restart each mission many times. Helping you out is your buddy, who you can order to stay still or follow you, and will shoot criminals alongside you.
The Police Stories alpha demo contains two levels - in this let's play Police Stories gameplay video we complete both, including needing to defuse a bomb!

Official Police Stories gameplay description:
"Unforgiving and tense, each mission is a story of police operatives John Rimes and Rick Jones, that involve infiltrating gang hideouts, rescuing hostages, making arrests and many other life-threatening situations.
We present a fresh take on top-down shooters, inspired by gritty police TV shows and films of the 90s - it puts a larger emphasis on tactics and forces you to make split-second decisions every time you play. Don’t create any unnecessary casualties, push the perps to drop the weapon or shoot to kill – sometimes the situation leaves you with no other choice."
