I hate this game with a passion. Porsche Challenge is like the ultimate Playstation racer which takes the mentaliy of graphics over gameplay far too seriously. What you get is one of the best looking releases of the time. To even feature a Porsche is pretty neat, especially with the tiny details such as the dashboard and steering wheel being properly rendered, but the game itself is drab.

I can't help but think the way it plays is as if a second-rate Ridge Racer crossed with Outrun. Porche Challenge's controls atleast try to mimick a 32-bit game of the 90s but are held miserably back by an archaic handling that would only be akin to something of the late 80s. Call me a snob, but we had moved on by that point.

Really what bothers me most is that the game is undecided as to whether it does things with an arcade approach or that of a simulation. The brand placement would beg you to believe that the cars drive like a Porche but I disagree entirely. The way the stages are structured aswell as the option to play with arcade settings show this, it lacks depth.

Oh boy I didn't expect to be ranting about Porche Challenge but it was a bitter disappointment for me as a kid.
