Fourth track. So this one, compared to the other two, was a bit spontaneous. The only thing I was sure about was the heavy Russian Circles inspired riff at 01:22. I wanted this moment to convey the feelings of immense struggle, hopelessness even, so taking inspiration from one of the darkest post-metal bands seemed like a great idea. And then I kind of coincidentally noticed that this riff uses the same chord progression as the beginning of Alice theme. And it was smooth sailing from there in terms of writing, recording, etc.
There is one more reference in this song, and I doubt that anyone will ever get it, haha. The ending riff is greatly inspired by the soundtrack to "Black Mesa" by Joel Nielsen. I am specifically talking about Questionable Ethics 1. If you listen closely, the strings play exactly the same melody, but with guitars and piano I did something different, didn't want to be a complete copycat. Anyways, I've always wanted to pay homage to Joel Nielsen in my music, and I am glad that I was able to do that in a way that would go so well with the theme of the album.

All rights for original track belong to ZUN and Team Shanghai Alice.
