24After Acquiring the rights Disney was going to shelve the Power Rangers franchise but then they figured out that if they filmed it in New Zealand they could make it at a fraction of the cost and they increased their profits still further by making it a non-union production.
They also cut long time producer Jonathan Tzachor who would eventually be rehired when Disney sold the rights...
The show was pretty popular so I guess they made the right call?
