I had never played the original Prince of Persia and went to the internet to see what version of the game I should play. And literally every source said something different, as the internet does. So I did the only logical thing and ignored them all and played the remake first. This is a fairly faithful remake that does make some quality of life changes and some level redesign for better ease. Honestly, I don't think I ever truly grasped combat. You had a block and parry that didn't really seem to do a whole lot for you. It did cause bullet time, that's neat. Slow down is always cool, right? Combat's a bit sloppy. The game does its best to mimic the cinematic platforming controls and that's not a good compliment. The game is stiff, but you can do cool things like wall kicking so you don't have to worry about just running off a ledge. As long as there is a wall to jump off of that is. The graphics are decent. You know where you are in the palace. Whether it's in it's dungeons or hanging gardens. It's not very long and pretty easy. The check points are pretty forgiving. There's still a 60 minute timer, but as long as you start the level over it never is a real issue. It's a decent experience for a remake. I do wish since they were making changes that they refined the controls to be more smooth and responsive. That would have been nice. Enjoy my blind playthrough.
