The heavily censored European release of Contra Hard Corps is confusingly the third game in the series to be just called Probotector in Europe with no extra subtitle. Despite the censorship it is still the best run and gun on the system and an essential purchase for any Mega Drive owner. The western version is far hard than the Japanese release due to the removal of the health bar, but overall all it's not that hard for a Contra game. Super Contra and the brutal Contra Shattered Soldier are both much harder in every aspect. Which is why Contra Hard Corps is the best game in the series as it's the most balanced of all of them, combine that with multiple routes, endings and player characters give this game plenty of replay value over many other titles in the series. Oh and in case your wondering, we've been playing this game all last weekend hence why Riven didn't die during this run he's had plenty of practice.
Contra Hard Corps has never been re-released on any other format and with Konami making such poor decisions like that it's easy to see why they are in so much trouble at the moment. Time Konami did a Contra HD Collection with all the games in the series on it.

Captured directly from a European Sega Mega Drive at 50hz using an RGB Scart connected via a scart upscaler in order for it to work with an Elgato Game Capture HD, note the background hum is due to a design flaw of the Mega Drive hardware, only very late model 2 unit totally remove this issue.
