Project CARS 3 (2020) - Every PC F1 Game
Project CARS 3 by Slightly Mad Studios/Bandai Namco Entertainment, 2020.
Ah the controversial Project CARS 3... ditching much of the simulation side of Project CARS 2 (along with a number of cars and tracks), in favour of something like Slightly Mad Studios' previous Need For Speed: Shift series, this game almost universally drew criticism.
Reduced damage, no pitstops, the removal of Spa-Francorchamps and the F1-like Formula A car... all mean this doesn't have as many nice features as before. But it still drives well, looks nice and sounds okay, so let's dive in... using the Lotus Type 98T, as that's now the most recent actual F1 car in the game (I'm not including the Formula X car, as it's sort-of an F1/IndyCar combo looks-wise, and is entirely fictional).
1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 Squirrelly take-off from the Turbo Lotus, the computer-controlled cars race you pretty hard!
2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:40 Wet weather looks okay, it's running pretty badly in replay here though. Spray looks a bit minimal but the track-wide puddles-of-much-aquaplaning return!
3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:59 Monaco, or Azure Circuit, looks good as usual, but the chicane now features a rather dangerous wall, to prevent corner-cutting!
4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:19 As Spa-Francorchamps has been dropped, here's Laguna Seca, which is definitely a handful in the wet!
5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:44 The removal of pitstops is the biggest crime this game commits. Here I'm carrying damage but can't get it fixed! Luckily damage doesn't really stop you in this game...
6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 2:05 Montreal is also lacking from this game, so I'm using the Nurburgring GP track here. Nice flip! Though my car sticks to the ground like glue and is reset far too quickly :-p
