Decided to give Project Zomboid a try on the Steam Deck. It runs really well.
My advice is to go for Keyboard + Mouse based controls mapped to the Steam Deck controller and trackpad.
You can see me struggling a little bit because i'm still figuring out the best settings. Managed to refine them a bit after this video was recorded. Will share a profile once I map out driving controls too.
