(PS4 60fps) Samurai Shodown VI #14 - Sieger custom color edits!
Showing custom color edits I made for the character Sieger in Samurai Shodown VI on PS4!
Skin color / armor color / edit slot / FX color
0:00 - gold / bronze / triangle (medium slash) / yellow
0:36 - onyx / gold / square (light slash) / green
1:12 - purple / plum / x (kick) / blue
2:00 - green / purple / circle (strong slash) / orange
2:48 - brown / platinum / R1 (special) / red
After that, I go through the edits in the same order in the game's Color Edit Mode, showing the RGB values. Like most characters in the game, Sieger has 15 colors for his main character sprite, and another 15 for his weapon.
There are two tricky color bits with Sieger though!
- His weapon -- which you can see in the editor for instance at 3:42 -- has two colors--these are the first and second from the right-hand side of the color palette in the top right--that are specifically for the outer part of the big specular highlight effect where it overlaps with the large emblem on the armor. So you adjust those to be a blend of the illuminated armor color and the emblem color, taking into account if the emblem is meant to be "glowing" or not. (In the default colors, the fist part of the weapon is usually colored as if it is glowing, and the emblem seems to be colored usually with a slightly glow to it.)
- The colors for one part of Sieger's character can't be edited, and are locked, specific to the assigned color slot! I don't know if they just forgot about it, or if it was a technical thing--because unlike the parts you color in the editor, these parts in question are a semi-transparent effect--but in some of Sieger's attack moves, like when he fires his gun arm (0:38), hits with an uppercut (1:51), or does his big arms-wide body splash leap thing (0:47), there's a semi-transparent effect attached to the attacking part of him, which appears to have its own color palette that doesn't appear in Color Edit Mode, so you can't change it! It matches the color of his weapon hand in his default character colors. They're yellow/red/orange in color, kind of what you'd expect for weapon/attack FX, except for the R1 (special) button character color slot, whose FX are light blue, and the square (light slash) button character color slot, whose FX are bright green!
I didn't notice this until after I'd made all my color edits. : P So in theory I might want to swap at least my green-skinned edit colors with the slot that has the bright green FX fixed to it--but on the other hand, if the FX color matched the character color too closely, the FX wouldn't stand out! Plus swapping 60 sets of RGB values across two color slots would be kind of a pain. : P So I'll probably just leave it. : PP But it's something you may want to keep in mind when you're making your Sieger color edits!
You select your saved color edits for actual use on a character in gameplay by holding the "Select" button (in the PS4 version, this is the left side of the touchpad) while pressing one of the game's regular five action buttons to select your character on the character select screen
