Is the PS5 Dead?

At a cost of $475, Linus was initially able to obtain all components at a price comparable to the purchase price of the PS5 (currently available with one controller for 499 $ on Amazon). However, this was only possible because the YouTuber decided to buy used hardware without a warranty. The following components were installed:

Mainboard: ASRock B450 Pro4 - for 40 $

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X - for 120 $

Graphics card: Intel Arc A770 - for 200 $

Hard disk: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB NVMe M.2 - for 40 $

Case: Cooler Master CM Storm Trooper - for free

Power supply: Seasonic X-650 Gold PSU - for 40 $

Memory: G.SKILL Trident Z RGB 3600MTs CL18 2x8GB DDR4 - for 35 $

Argument:

PS5 has HDR

PS5 is easier to just plug in and play on your TV

Most of the parts were used

A used PS5 can go as low as $300 and if you have a Series X you can basically swap it for a PS5 at GameStop

Getting MORE frames isn’t necessarily better. Just because the PS5 caps out at 120 doesn’t mean it can’t go higher.

The reason is the PS5 uses V Sync in most games so you don’t see screen tearing

For some reason, not every game uses it this generations so you can see tearing in stuff like Jedi Survivor

Games that run worse on PS5 almost always have underlying problems that stop them from running well on PC. Games: Dead Space, Jedi Survivor, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Most likely Dragon’s Dogma 2 and most recently Pacific Drive so running a game “better” doesn’t mean it runs “well.”

Conclusion: You can build a cheap PC to supplement your PS5 but going for that OVER a PS5 is dumb
