Quake 2 Part 5/5 (Ares N64 Emulation)

It's the finale of Quake 2 on the N64! In the previous videos I talked about how unique this version (new levels and music) is and how I prefer it over the PC version. Unfortunately it has a delay in its controls (even on emulator) which makes it hard to play; and this is why I have to have it on easy. Thus it desperately needs a PC port, which will also make the higher difficulties accessible.
Likely the source code is long gone to make an easy port. But it runs on a fork of the Quake 64 engine. This year Kaiser at Nightdive was able to decipher the Quake 64 mapping format, so theoretically if the maps can be accessed they might be able to be ported to modern engines. Tricky thing is that N64 ROMs are often compressed. However Kaiser was able to get around this issue for Doom 64 by running it in an emulator, where by looking in the emulator memory he was able to find the uncompressed maps. Theoretically this could be done for Quake 2 on the N64 too; they will just need to decipher some of the other formatting which may have been added. Then it could be perhaps ran in one of the Quake engines.
It is Quake 2's 25th anniversary this year, so maybe this long lost version of Quake 2 can have a rerelease. Hopefully the leaders at id/Bethesda/ZeniMax/Microsoft give the talented team at Nightdive the go-ahead to make this dream happen!
