Quake 2 RTX: Amazing graphics in a 20 year old game
A year ago I thought that raytracing is a thing that is years away from being applicable in realtime rendering. I guess I was wrong.
The release of Q2VKPT showed the world that realtime pathtraced rendering is not only possible and doesn't only look good, but it works with an acceptable performance as well.
With the release of Quake 2 RTX, I am much more excited to see what other games using raytracing as their rendering method could look like. Good thing is, RTX is open source, so maybe we will see an RTX implementation in games like Half Life 2.
Only time will tell I guess!
