Quake II, the second game in the Quake series, made with the Quake II engine, the second branch of id Tech 2. The game itself has had some interesting history on development, as the game was meant to be a new game and intellectual property. However, several suggested names failed to make it, so the game was ultimately called "Quake II" in the end, due to the game's fast-paced feel of the first. As such, the game's story and aesthetics are completely related to that of Quake 1's, although the first game did have Strogg crates as well as walls bearing Strogg insignia in the base levels. Though, it had been confirmed that a scientist first made contact with the Strogg during the slipgate experiments and used their technology to improve the human slipgates, which explains how they managed to get the Strogg crates into the bases. When Quake's forces invaded, they managed to steal the Strogg crates containing the humans' technology from them.

Anyway, back to it. The game's singleplayer plays a lot like the first game, pick up weapons, collect items, get keys to access new areas, reach the exit. This time, the levels are separated into their own "units", which are basically large levels that consist of moderate-sized maps that connect to each other. Once the unit exit is found, the unit ends and the player moves on to the next. The game has a total of 10 units in singleplayer. The game also makes more emphasis on completing objectives, as there is usually one primary objective to complete for each unit, while also following a secondary objective to progress through the level. Once all are completed, the player can get to the unit exit.

And of course, the multiplayer is also the same; deathmatch and cooperative. I still like deathmatch more. Like the first game, there are many extra maps made for deathmatch, which I will show in the next video.
