A public beta version of Quake II that has many differences from the final product, especially many sound effects. There was even a sound that played when pulling out a weapon. The on-screen graphics were also different, and had another "status bar face" before using a simple health icon. Even the font is same from Qtest1 and the leaked beta, itself being similar to that used in the Doom engine.

The game itself lets you play through Unit 1. Upon completion, the game displays an early victory screen for the demo. In addition, this test lacks multiplayer, and was eventually supported in another demo version.
