Let's play Quake II in Virtual Reality again on HTC Vive, this time with HD texture pack, enhanced weapons and opponent models. The Quake 2 VR MOD is playable on both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift in Virtual Reality, and today I'm doing a comparison of the best possible HD Textures and models for Quake II vs default game graphics.

Quake II has now a custom VR MOD that enables Virtual Reality support with motion controller tracking, room-scale support, positional head tracking and standing/sitting gameplay with both Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

How to Install the HD Textures + enhanced weapon models:

1. Download the Quake 2 HD Texture pack from one of the links below. (should be a 377 MB zip file, and when extracted around 700 MB):

2. Download the Quake 2 models from one of the links below. (should be 17 MB or 19 MB zip file):

IMPORTANT:
For all of u having problems with the weapon models, download this file: http://realistic.tastyspleen.net/PAKS/HI%20RES%20PAKS/
And extract the .pak file in the \baseq2\ folder, it should work much better (thanks to Zehrfox for pointing this out, much appreciated!)

3. Extract both zip files into the \baseq2\ folder in your Quake2VR modded game folder

4. If you extracted it right, you should have a "textures" folder and a "models" folder inside your \baseq2 folder.

5. If you downloaded the High Resolution Weapons zip file that only contains a pak8.pak file instead of a "models" folder, thats works as well. Just put the pak8.pak file into the \baseq2 folder. It works the same way.

6. Start the Quake VR MOD on HTC Vive or Oculus Rift. Full instructions in my first Quake 2 VR video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zl7a98MBgus

7. For best quality, go into Video-settings in game Options and set:
- Anti-Aliasing: OFF
- Texture Filter: Trilinear
- Anisotropic Filtering: x16 (max)
- Texture Quality: Highest
- Texture compression: High Quality

8. For perfect sharpness set Super Sampling to 2.0 in Options -
Virtual Reality - Advanced Options.
