Quest 2 VR Contractor$ - Sanlaki Gunstock - First use and thought review
Press SHOW MORE below game box and read..
No Music.. No Talking.. READ for my thoughts and very "first" use of the Sanlaki Gunstock within Contractor$ after my 15 minute muscle memory practice offline.. I quit VR FPS games till this arrived.. so I am lost in the new update as well.. this is very confusing.. it's actually a workout.. but honestly.. it does do the main thing I wanted.. it aligns the two controllers to shoot on target.. if I never had to reload, I would be a happy player... would be a nice option to have auto reload with the animation for time penalty.. these are just my FIRST THOUGHTS.. more to come.. maybe..
My limited talents failed to capture the calibrate part.. trust me, it works very well in Contractor$.. I really like Contractor$ over the other offerings of FPS VR shooters, especially with the community workshop "CoD Modern Warfare series" maps and others.. with Onward a close second place in FPS VR.. and with cross-play now.. there is a much larger userbase out there for all VR shooter games thanks to Quest 2 users.. I always use the PC versions over wireless with Virtual Desktop on the Quest 2 at 90hz..
Anyways..this is about the Sanlaki Gunstock.. I just had to try a gunstock in a FPS VR game.. this is going to be a YUGE learning curve.. personally, I don't feel the magnets that come with the Gunstock are strong enough. When I have to disconnect the gun hand to grab secondary weapon, the front magnet is not strong enough to hold the gun from the barrel alone and so far my fiddling gets me dead quick, while trying to grab the gun again for both controllers. 2nd issue.. muscle memory, because I don't play FPS games often anymore.. what was I thinking? I will probably have to re-learn every time I go back to this.. that's my fault..
As for the Gunstock build.. it's "ok".. I use controller sleeves and the magnet inserts for the controllers fit snug and nicely inside the rings while using the Velcro over them from the sleeves, perfect fit. The threads on the pieces though, had plastic shavings, some long enough to curl out of the holes.. The front locking connector had rough front and back flat surfaces and only allowed the front barrel to align from one end without being tilted up.. meaning the threads are probably crooked, but did work.. The middle piece that holds the fake sight looks nice.. but is a bit short and rattles.. I can't get it tight enough to stop.. The sling slots do not fit the sling clips they sell.. the included Velcro strips are used to connect the sling.. not the best in design.. but over all.. for the price... well.. yeah it is "ok", two weeks to ship and around $100.00 shipped with sling.. but could be better with TLC and QC here.
I probably would just buy the cheaper version, because I don't think I will be using this often enough to learn the proper use. my fault, not the guns. time will tell.. if muscle memory gets better.. and my handling finesse can make the magnets seem stronger.. I will surely update.. execution is "my" disappointment right now.. if you have a few buds.. pool your money and get a 3D printer and use their 3D files to make team stocks, is my suggestion.
