Quick Tip: Changing the BRN-180 .300 Blackout Flash Hider
Changing the flash hider / compensator muzzle device on your BRN-180™ upper receiver is extremely easy. But the steps for the new BRN-180S™ Gen2 .300 Blackout model ARE different from all the 5.56/.223 variants. It's still dirt simple to do, and Brownells Gun Tech Caleb Savant walks us through those steps. Start by backing off the jam nut from the shoulder of the flash/comp, then unscrew the flash/comp from the barrel. Next, remove the jam nut - and you'll find a C-clip underneath it. The C-clip is critical for keeping sound suppressors and certain finely tuned muzzle devices precisely concentric with the bore. It indexes on the BRN-180S™ barrel's small shoulder, the jam nut indexes on the C-clip, and finally the suppressor indexes on the jam nut, keeping everything perfectly aligned. Installing a standard muzzle device is even simpler - and Caleb shows us exactly how easy it is. But what about that C-clip? Don't worry: it hides under the jam nut, so you have it if you ever need it.
