In these uncertain times, it's important to stop, take a deep breath, and get a grip - or at least fit some nice ones to your revolver or semi-auto pistol. Brownells Gun Tech™ Steve Ostrem is joined by pro gunsmith Bobby Tyler of Tyler Gun Works in Friona, Texas, to talk about the how important it is to choose the right grips for your handgun. Changing grips is a great way to totally change the feel of your gun without investing a ton of money or time. Since the grip is the main nexus between you and the gun, it's critical in managing recoil so you have a pleasant shooting experience. When fitting grips to the gun, the most important area is the top of the grip frame. If the grip is loose or doesn't meet the frame securely, the force of recoil will eventually crack the grip. A little rounding on the back and bottom of the grip goes a long way to ensuring you don't walk away from a shooting session with a sore, battered hand. This is true as much with your revolver as your 1911. What's the best grip material? Wood? Rubber? Polymer? Stag? G10? Mammoth Ivory? Listen to what Bobby has to say....
