Race Condition (2022) - Every PC F1 Game
Race Condition by Ravine AB, 2022.
This is a fantastic little arcade racer, which totally held my attention as I completed the story mode - you basically have to do well enough to move up the levels by coming in the top 3 of races, whilst a suspiciously good German racer called Dickmann tends to win everything, until you beat him! There's a rough story, with updates every time you move up a level.
Graphics are basic Virtua Racing style, but intentionally so, with various weather conditions and time-of-day baked into each track. Tracks are a mix of real-life styled circuits and fictional ones. Cars come in a range of colours, but apart from Dickmann's unlockable car, tend to handle similarly. Sounds is okay, with some retro music (disabled here).
1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 As you can see briefly (from the flyover), this is based on Monza. Racing is pretty frantic! You can, however, cut some corners!
2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:26 It's not Silverstone, but it is a UK-based track in heavy rain! I like the lighting underneath the flyovers.
3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:49 There's no Monaco, but this Netherlands-based track has a bit of an underpass!
4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:07 There's nothing like Spa in the game, but this is an Ambler, Alaska based track in heavy snow! I still manage to set the 7th best time in the world (at the time of making this video) though :-)
5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:30 This is a Mexican based track, I believe. Pitstops DO have a purpose in this game, as you can restock your fuel!
6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:46 This is actually a mini version of Suzuka, but run backwards! Crashes in this game can be dramatic, but there's no damage; they just make it harder to win the race!
