Speed 3: Grand Prix (2021) - Every PC F1 Game
Speed 3: Grand Prix by BadBoys Game Studios/Lion Castle Entertainment, 2021.
This game had rather a tortuous route to arriving on the PC. The first game in the series was released on PC in 2007, called "F1 Chequered Flag" or "X-1 SuperBoost" by Team6 Game Studios. I've already covered it over here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KS-UhUt1uWk
The game then was ported to Nintendo Wii, called "Speed". A sequel followed, "Speed 2", both of which had more varied scenery than the PC original. Lion Castle then took over publishing, which is a new company run by the owner of Team6 Game Studios, and a team called BadBoys Game Studios made "Speed 3: Grand Prix", using code from the Team6 Game Studios game "Super Street: The Game" (and kind of sounds like it, with a road-car style engine noise and a handbrake button!).
So... what do we have here? In short, another super budget Unreal-engine arcade racer, where cars ping-pong off each other and explode regularly! There are only 6 tracks in the game, however, although most are based (to a degree) on real-life F1 venues, as I'll explain below! There are 6 different cars, which possibly handle a little differently, but it's hard to tell!
1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 This is called United Kingdom in-game, but it's the Nurburgring GP track in shape. You always seem to start races in first place, so I slowed down to let some cars ahead, so you can see how crazy they can be!
2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:44 This is a track called Germany, but it's semi-based on Suzuka in Japan (although it has a cross-over, rather than tunnel).
3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:56 There's no Monaco, but there is this Japan street track. I wonder if this one derived from one of the Super Street games?
4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:17 This IS the Spa layout... but in the desert, called United States! I HAD to show this one! Not sure what happens to my car through Eau Rouge/Raidillon though...
5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:32 As you can see, my car is pretty broken, yet handles fine DESPITE MISSING A REAR WHEEL! Anyway, there are no pits, no Brazil (this is a super speedway) and the pitlane is filled with grass and motorhomes :-D
6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:47 The best way to crash in this game is to reverse! I "takedown" (hints of Burnout?!) 15 cars here! We then respawn on top of each other :-D before I do a more regular crash. YOU CRASHED. Thanks!
