F1 22 (2022) - Every PC F1 Game
F1 22 by Codemasters/Electronic Arts, 2022.
The 2022 Formula 1 game was the first game since 2003 to come entirely under the EA Sports brand. It adds a controversial F1 Life mode, where you can set up your room, buy clothes and collect sports cars (which you can drive, to a degree), but dropped the dramatic "Breaking Point" story mode.
The ray tracing has been enhanced greatly, but it's starting to show up my slightly older PC, meaning once again I've had to activate DLSS (having an Nvidia 2070 SUPER), which, once again, improves frame rate, but makes the image a little less sharp, whilst introducing undesirable ghosting effects in some places.
The graphics generally look more vibrant than F1 2021, as the fogging/haze has been dialed back a bit. It does, however, look somewhat not-quite-real, compared to real life.
1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 You can see all the glorious ray tracing in action here. The in-car noise has been boosted (this is using the "Driver" profile, which in F1 2021 was quite muffled, presumably as it simulated wearing a helmet, but here it is crisp and loud!
2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:35 Once again, Codemasters show that they need to work on their wet weather effects. The DLSS creepy ghosting effect has been removed, but the spray is awful, even compared to previous F1 games!
3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:51 The DLSS ghosting is visible in the tunnel, but it's improved over F1 2021.
4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:08 Spa looks pretty much like F1 2021, and lacks the new grandstand buildings. It's pretty hard though in the rain, this was my 5th or 6th attempt at driving through Eau Rouge!
5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:29 This demonstrates the new "Interactive" pitstop, where you have to steer at the right time, or it costs more time (though I'm changing the front wing too, so his comment is a bit moot! There's a "Broadcast" pitstop mode too, where the entire pitstop is non-interactive and shot like the real-life TV view.
6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:50 Here I manage to pick up a Williams, thank goodness for the Halo! Crashes are still somewhat low-key, compared to reality.
