Rad Gameplay | First Impressions Of Double Fine's Mutant Roguelike
In this Rad gameplay we talk with Double Fine’s Greg Rice, as he tells us all about Rad’s setting, where we learn it is set in a post-post-apocalyptic world where the armageddon has struck twice. Rad is a 3D action mutant roguelike, which is different every time thanks to its procedurally generated world. This video was recorded as part of the EGX Rezzed 2019's RPS Sessions, powered by XSplit (https://www.xsplit.com), and supported by RIG Gaming (https://www.plantronics.com/gb/en/gaming) and GamesPlanet (https://uk.gamesplanet.com).
This isn’t a Rad review, but is instead our first Rad impressions, showing you what you can expect when the game releases. As you run through the world of Rad you will see Rad not only has a climate system, weather system, and day and night system, but it also has a mutation system. As you run around you will see your character is bringing life back into the world around you, sometimes generating fruit behind you which can be eaten for health.
However, all of these mutations come at the cost of you receiving a random mutation with a new power for you. A lot of mutations are offensive, but some aren’t, and it’s all down to you to figure out what to use, based on what’s best for you and your style of play.
You will be accompanied by your trusty bat, your weird mutations, and that’s all. The more you mutate, the less human you’ll become, but you will become a lot more powerful.
