Rainbow Six Siege: Sledge Operator Review- It's Hammer Time
28Hello and welcome to my Sledge Operator guide. Sledge is a SAS attacker operator. His special ability is his breaching sledge hammer. He comes equipped with the M590A1 Shotgun and the L85A2 assault rifle as primaries. Since Sledge already has his hammer to knock holes into walls the shotgun really isn't needed, I suggest the L85 to give Sledge a longer range to attack at. With the L85 I suggest using the P226 Pistol to give him something easier to control. If you do decide to use the M59 shotgun I suggest the SMG-11 as the secondary of choice. Its really fun to play with and has a fantastic rate of fire. His secondary gadgets are frag grenades and breaching charges. I suggest the frag grenades since he is one of the only two operators who can choose them, also he has his breaching hammer to take down any defenses which eliminates the need for breaching charges. Sledges hammer can take down any barricades and trap doors you find, t can also take down any walls or floors you could normally shoot or destroy with a breaching charge. The hammer is much faster than a breaching charge and a bit quieter, his hammer still makes loud noises and your enemies will still be able to hear it. His hammer definitly makes reaches much faster which can be a good thing with the right team and strategy. His hammer can also take down barbed wire with a single blow and normal barricades with one swing instead of the normal three melee hits. The hammer can also take out Castle's kevlar panels with one to two swings making Sledge an excellent counter to Castle. I found that Sledge pairs best with shield operators, he can take down walls or barricades quickly so that the shield operators can get into objective areas faster. I also found that he works great with Glaz, Sledge can quickly destroy a barricade or wall to open up a new sightline for Glaz. You can also kill enemies with one swing of the breaching hammer, which is pretty fun to play with and in a way is kinda of a huge insult to the enemy. I suggest against this though because the time it takes to pull out and swing the hammer is too slow and leaves Sledge exposed for too long. There really isn't a specific counter to Sledge but the closes operator to one would be Kapkan. If Sledge fails to notice one of Kapkan's traps and he breaches with his hammer it will set the trap off. To summarize Sledge is great for quick breaches and opening sightlines or paths for his team mates. He is also great for clearing rooms by using his frag grenades. He can breach just about anything except for permanent structures and reinforced walls. He can kill people with his hammer but the swing is too slow and really isn't a great option for a close quarters ingagement. He can also trigger Kapkan's traps if he breaches a barricade with his hammer that has a trap placed on it. I hope you all enjoyed the video!
