Rainbow Six Siege: Smoke Operator Guide- Poison Gas
57Hello and welcome to my Smoke Operator Guide. Smoke is a defensive operator for the SAS CTU. He can equip the FMG-9 sub-machine gun and the M590A1 shotgun as primaries. He can also equip the P226 Handgun and the SMG-11 Machine Pistol as his secondary. For his secondary gadget he can equip barbed wire or the nitro cell. As for his primaries I suggest the M590A1 shotgun. I say this because Smoke is one of the best objective defenders and needs to shut people down in close quarters. The M59 is also really good, like every shotgun, at opening murder holes for you and your team mates. This being said the FMG-9 isn't really a good smg, it has low accuracy and a pretty short range, but if you want to use it all the power to you. As for his secondaries I suggest the SMG-11 if you decide to roll witht he M59, it really makes up for the shotguns lack of fire rate. If you decide to roll with the FMG-9 I suggest you take the P226 so you always have something a bit more accurate and easier to control. As for secondary gadgets I suggest you take the Nitro cell, it works very well at taking down groups of enemies or walls if you need to. These gas grenades damage enemies over time and actually do an alright job at masking you movements if you ever need to. You do need to be careful when you deploy these though, for a number of reasons. The first of which being that you only get 3, so you need to use them wisely. It also does friendly fire, you can kill your team mates with it so be sure not to detonate one on you buddies back. It also hurts the hostage if you're defending one, so don't use it next to a hostage. That's pretty self explanatory. Now the grenades themselves have a number of uses. For one they go through walls so it is possible to kill someone on the other side of one, which kinda sucks but we're just going to have to deal with it. It also does a great job at taking out shielded operators. Since the grenade can hit them from behind and since shield operators tend to move slower, lengthening the time they're stuck in your gas, you can do a fairly good amount of damage or even kill a shielded operator if you use your gas right. Another handy use for the gas is to close off choke points, if you know most of the enemy team is going through a particular hallway you can throw your gas and block their progress. In other words this is a great tactic for setting up ambushes with your team mates. Another handy tactic is using your gas as a distraction and the nitro cell for the actual killing. So now you know some of the uses for the gas grenades, now who does Smoke combo well with? Smoke combos well with Tachanka, whom is in a fixed point while using his mounted LMG, Smoke can use his gas grenades to cover up his flanks. Smoke also combos well with Pulse. Pulse can use his sensor to help Smoke decide when and where a gas canister would be most effective. The only real counters to Smoke only are apparent if Smoke uses his gas like traps, placing them down and waiting instead of chucking and detonating it immediately. However if you do place them as traps the best counters to Smoke are IQ, Twitch, and Thatcher. IQ can use her sensor to find and destroy the canisters, Twitch can use her drone to shock and destroy the canister, and Thatcher can use his EMP grenades to destroy the canister.
