Rambo: First Blood Part II (Master System) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Sega's 1986 shooter for the Sega Master System, Rambo: First Blood Part II.
It was also released on the Wii Virtual Console in 2009 under the original European release's title "Secret Command."
This is essentially the SMS exemplar for the "Ikari Warriors" formula top-down shooter, and it is SOOO much better in just about every possible way. In addition to playing Vietnam's #1 Hollywood bad ass, you save POWs, grab powerups, and launch explosive tipped arrows at everything that blinks suspiciously. It's a lot of fun, and unlike Ikari Warriors, doesn't generally put all of the enemies at angles that you can't possibly shoot at, making it a great deal more fair in its difficulty: in another comparison, it doesn't require an insane amount of button mashing like Sega's "other Stallone movie" game, Rocky). It's length is also a huge boon - this type of game really isn't much fun after nearly two hours of being played straight (Ikari Warriors, yet again). The graphics are simple, but really, it looks great for a home game released in 1986.
As long as you turn the sound off (or are among the extreme few that absolutely love the SMS PSG sound chip), you'll have a great time with this one.
