Afterburner III (Sega CD) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Sega's 1993 arcade-style flight-sim shooter for the Sega CD, Afterburner III.
Played through on the normal difficulty level.
Sega's arcade type games were never known for their ease, but this one really ups the ante. It's extremely difficult to keep track of everything flying at you in the later stages, though paying extremely close attention to audio cues does help minimize the frustration.
Even though Afterburner and G-loc have always shared a lot of DNA, they were never directly related to each other, so it seems a bit strange that this game feels distinctly like a G-loc sequel with Afterburner music blaring over it. Either way, it looks great (as long as you ditch the cockpit view), and the Redbook AF remixes are pretty good. It's quite a good game as long as you have the chops for it.
