I have been playing around with the recently released Raspbian XP by Pi Labs. Not sure if its still available, but the main part I will be showing is that he has installed Windows 98 using Qemu on that image, its an overclocked Pi 4. It also has DOSBox, Box86 and other interesting things, but this Qemu Windows emulator seems like a very stable way of running retro Windows games on the Pi. Box86 is nice for running Linux x86 games on the Pi, even pretty modern ones, but there are other videos about that.

In this video I show how to mount an iso image while running Windows 98, using ctrl-alt-2 to open the qemu command prompt and using a command to mount an iso image.

I have already been installing Starcraft and Dune 2000 for testing. Its running really well I think. I suspect Pi Labs compiled Qemu from its source code to get it working on the Pi 4, because from what I have read, its not working using the regular apt-get to install it, even though its available. I think its because its only for previous Pi´s for now.

Dune 2000 and Starcraft both seems to be running great to me. There are some delays here and there, but mainly when loading the game and in menus. I am pretty certain this can also be used to play Diablo, C&C, Red Alert and maybe even Red Alert 2. I will try to test Diablo 2, but I suspect its a bit too much for it. I have already tried running Simon the Sorcerer 3D on it, to test its limits, and it does seem unable to run on it, and if it can run it will run quite slowly.

Here is a video made by Pi Labs about this image. He has a lot of videos about running Windows and x86 games on the Pi:
