Generally speaking, randomizers will do their thing before you even boot the game. You use a computer program that randomizes everything, generates the ROM hack for you, and then you play it.
What we have here is proof of concept for something more dynamic. Every time a Pokemon is generated, ie trainer, wild battle, starter, gfft, etc, it is randomized in real time. Not only does this mean there is no way to predict what a fight will be like by checking the ROM hack on your computer, but if you lose a battle, you'll have to roll the dice all over again!
To demonstrate this, I lose a battle on purpose against an NPC trainer, and come back immediately after. There are no cuts to the footage, as to show this is a single segment. Furthermore, I catch 3 Pokemon in the Wild Area that look the same in the overworld, but are not in battle, and show their status screens.
This project is being made by Death Chaos and Raytwo. This is still in early development stages, so a public release is not yet ready. I will post further updates when they accomplish more. There is a lot of potential here for swsh rom hacking!
